About Zoom

ABOUT US
Zoom Tri Club started in September 2005 and now have more than 150 members. Based in Bournemouth, Dorset we have a regular weekly schedule of a minimum of 6 training sessions, all of which are coached or supervised.
Our Members
Our members come in all shapes and sizes and compete at all levels and at different distances, they enjoy the benefits of training together and enjoy a welcoming and encouraging environment. We promote a sense of team spirit and enjoy supporting each other at races. We have some very high quality athletes and many novices but we all support each other and make sure that nobody gets left behind.
We do have social events, formally and informally, many members get together on a weekly basis and train together outside the club sessions.

TRAINING AT ZOOM
RUNNING SESSIONS – (All Coached)
WHEN: Tuesday & Thursday
Meet 6:30 pm at Littledown Centre, leaving promptly at 6:45 pm
Approx time of finish 8:00 pm.
From July-September the Thursday evening run session will be replaced with a sea swim/other session (see below)
WHEN: Sundays - Forest Trail Runs
Meet 8:15 pm Location advertised on Club Groups.
Usually a bit muddy, fun off road route, varying in mileage from 6 - 13+ miles
These sessions will run continuously throughout the year and are free to members and invited (prospective) new members. There will be a charge of £3 for non-members.
Minimum ability required to take part in these sessions: to be able to run 9:30 minute mile pace continuously for 3 miles.
If you are currently not at this level, please contact one of the coaches, who will then advise you to help you achieve this standard.
There are no coached running sessions during the school summer holidays although the Tuesday night group still meet for an uncoached run at the Littledown at the normal time.
WINTER POOL SESSIONS
Monday 8:30 – 9:30pm at Stokewood Leisure Centre (coached).
We have the whole pool (6 lanes) and these sessions run most of the year but there is a break from June until the beginning of September. (See sea swimming)
We have a Swim Smooth certified coach taking our Monday eveining sessions. Spaces limited to so if you are not a member but would like to attend a taster session, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. before turning up.
Cost: Members £5:00
MEMBERS & PROPSECTIVE MEMBERS ONLY AT THIS SESSION
Minimum ability required to take part in these sessions: to be able to swim 8 lengths (200m) of front crawl continuously. If you are currently not at this level, please contact one of the coaches who will advise you how to achieve this.
SUMMER SEA SWIMMING
These sessions are seasonal and uncoached. They run from approximately May – September (weather dependent).
COST: free
LOCATION: Durley Chine Lifeguard Centre, Bournemouth or Boscombe Pier (Urban Reef Café).
Monday evening – meet at 6.00 pm for 6.30 pm in the water
Lifeguard Hut Just before West Cliff Zig Zag (June – early September only)
Thursday evening – meet at 6.00 pm for 6.30 pm in the water
Lifeguard Hut Just before West Cliff Zig Zag (July – August only)
Plus other sessions such as aquathlons, TTs, Brick Sessions etc details will be posted on the members’ website.
Saturday morning - meet at 8.00 am for 8.30 am in the water

Minimum ability required to take part: to be able to swim 400m front crawl continuously
N.B. Triathlon wet suit and bright swim hat required for all open water sessions!
Wednesday evenings switch between Mountain Bike rides in the winter and road cycling in summer. Time and meeting place vary, so check members’s area of the website for details
Saturday morning biking will start at 10 am normally from the Littledown or Sandbanks ferry but subject to change – always check the Member’s Area of the website for details. These sessions are not coached but led rides from various meeting points and will vary in duration/distance. Details will be posted on the members’ area.
COST: free to members and invited
(prospective) new members, £3:00 non-members .
VENUE: Various and will be posted on the Club Groups.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Road (race/TT not MTB) bike in good working order and helmet (no helmet no ride).
PLEASE NOTE:
For your own safety and enjoyment please wear suitable and appropriate clothing when attending sessions.
If you have any medical conditions or disabilities you must consult the Head Coach before attending any of these sessions.
